The 2018 Farm Progress Show, scheduled for Aug. 28-30, will be held on the permanent biennial site east of Boone, Iowa.
This long-term facility for the nation’s largest outdoor farm show was developed on nearly 600 acres at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 17, providing visitors easy access to the show grounds.
The show is held every other year on this site, with alternate years at its other permanent biennial facility in Decatur, Ill.
The developed Iowa site is also known as the Central Iowa Expo. The facility hosts other events and activities when it is not occupied with the Farm Progress Show.
Landowners and farmers who are the Iowa show site’s host families include Eric Ziel, June Isaacson and Alan Schoff.
The central Iowa site offers close proximity to major four-lane and interstate highways, as well as access to a wide range of hotels and restaurants. Iowa State University, a respected institution in agricultural education and research, is located just a few miles away in Ames.
Permanent restrooms, hard-surfaced streets and well-drained, permanent alfalfa and sod parking lots are just a few of the amenities visitors and exhibitors can look forward to at the Farm Progress Show site in Boone.
“Improvements are ongoing at the Boone site,” notes Matt Jungmann, Farm Progress director of trade shows. “Most of the improvements come from our exhibitors who are always trying to construct exhibits that will attract more producers to their display.”
Wallaces Farmer is the 2018 show host publication.
