A Dec. 6 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension workshop for Home, Farm and Acreages, will address the use alternative energy issues.
The workshop, from 1-5 p.m. at the Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead, is geared toward acreage owners, homeowners and farmers.
"We are trying to focus on alternative energy options for people that are interested in renewable energy options," says John Hay, UNL Extension educator and one of the workshop organizers.
The workshop will discuss how the alternative energy options work and the cost effectiveness of each option.
Topics and speakers include: Energy Conservation in Homes and Buildings, Shirley Niemeyer, UNL housing and environmental specialist; Small Wind, Solar and Photovoltaics for Home or Business, John Dixon, Dixon Power Systems; Net Metering for Renewable Electricity, Rich Andrysik, Lincoln Electric Systems; Ethanol and Biodiesel Blends, Loren Isom, UNL Industrial Ag Products Center; and Modern Methane Production, Crystal Powers, UNL.
