Gering, Neb. No-Till on the Plains Meeting Begins Tomorrow

Continuous no-till a focus of first Nebraska Winter Meet.

No-till on the Plains, Inc. is set to hold its Winter Meeting November 14-15 in Gering, Nebraska.

This two-day conference will provide farmers with ways to increase profitability, efficiency, soil fertility, and improve water quality while utilizing and protecting limited water resources in current drought conditions.

The No-Till on the Plains Winter Meeting will be held Wednesday-Thursday, November 14-15, 2007 at the Gering Civic Center, located 40 miles north of I-80 in Scotts Bluff County.

The meeting will feature nationally-known expert speakers as well as experienced local no-tillers from the area. Dr. Dwayne Beck of Dakota Lakes Research Farm at Pierre, SD; Dr. Ray Ward of Ward Labs at Kearney, Neb.; Dr. Merle Vigil of the Akron, Col., Central Great Plains Research Station; and Gary Hergert, University Nebraska-Lincoln Panhandle Research and Extension Center, Scottsbluff are only a few of the excellent speakers who will share their knowledge of continuous no-till. A rainfall simulator demonstration will also be highlighted during the meeting.

Registration will open for the two-day event at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow with sessions from 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Thursday sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Proceedings manual and lunch will be provided both days. Exhibitor booths featuring all of the latest will also be available during the meeting.

Partial funding for this event is being made possible by the Nebraska Environmental Trust with other sponsors Nebraska NRCS, the North Platte Natural Resources District, the South Platte NRD, the Upper Niobrara White NRD, and University of Nebraska Lincoln Extension.
