Monsanto Tuesday announced it has expanded its Roundup Ready PLUS Weed Management Solutions platform to include additional herbicides for use in cotton and soybeans.
The expansion adds more weed control options while offering new incentives for soybeans, cotton or corn acres when using Roundup or Roundup Ready Plus products, the announcement said.
Monsanto has also extended PLUS platform financial incentives to include Arizona cotton, and has increased the number of available products in Texas.
Roundup Ready PLUS Weed Management Solutions was developed by Monsanto in conjunction with academics and industry partners to help farmers improve their weed control program through resources tailored by geographic region and crop.
2013 participation in the platform is expected to increase from 2012, when more than 60,000 farmers followed the Roundup Ready PLUS platform and received incentives for using qualifying herbicides from Monsanto and its industry partners.
Roundup Ready PLUS incentives for next season are now posted on www.roundupreadyPLUS.com.
Expanded product uses in PLUS platform
In 2014, producers can use Authority MAXX herbicide in the Roundup Ready PLUS platform to control waterhemp, velvetleaf and pigweed in soybean.
Warrant Herbicide, previously labeled for post-emergence applications, has been approved and labeled for both pre- and post-emergence application in cotton and soybean crops. The wider window of application includes early preplant, at-planting, pre-emergence and post-emergence (through first flower in cotton and up to R2 growth stage in soybeans) and provides up to 30 days residual control, Monsanto said.
