NC Foundation to Present Record Number of Scholarships

Nineteen students earn funds for 2011-2012 academic year.

The Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation has award scholarships to 19 students for the 2011-2012 academic year. They are:

Ashton Meints, Plymouth, $1,000 Cattlemen's Open Scholarship

Joelle Pillen, Platte Center, $1,000 Bill Heller Memorial Scholarship

Kelsey Wetovick, Fullerton, $1,000 Robert E. Lute II Memorial Scholarship

Judson Hoffschneider, Arlington, $1,000 Frank & Shirley Sibert Scholarship

Alec Ibach, Sumner , $1,000 Donavan Yoachim Memorial Scholarship

Kelby Sudbeck, Fordyce, $1,000 Nebraska Cattlemen Beef Pit Scholarship

Jason Jagels, Davenport, $1,000 Martin Viersen Range Management/Conservation Scholarship

Austin Zimmerman, Beatrice, $1,000 Vance Uden Memorial Scholarship

Amy Cox, Sutton, $1,000 Retail Value Steer Challenge Scholarship

Alissa Doerr, Creighton, $1,000 Retail Value Steer Challenge Scholarship

Jayla Hall, Minatare, $1,000 Retail Value Steer Challenge Scholarship

Jamie Hanson, Comfrey, Minn., $1,000 Retail Value Steer Challenge Scholarship

Alex Mohr, Genoa, $500 AgriLabs Scholarship

 

"We received nearly 50 applications from many well-qualified youth, and are extremely pleased to award these scholarships to help these students with their educational goals," says George Cooksley, Anselmo, president of the foundation. "This is the largest annual number of scholarships the foundation has been able to award, thanks to the generosity of donors to the Retail Value Steer Challenge. A total of 142 steers were donated to this year's challenge, a steer challenge record."
