Scoutdoc Adds GPS Mapping To Ag Field Scouting App

Scoutdoc Adds GPS Mapping To Ag Field Scouting App

New app allows pin drops on Google Maps to mark specific field locations of interest.

After a successful year since its launch in 2012, ScoutDoc agricultural field scouting now has a new app for iPad use that includes GPS mapping and the ability to make pin drops on Google Maps for specific points of interest in specific fields.

Peter Gredig, a partner in AgNition, the producer of ScoutDoc, says the upgrades were made to meet user demands. Both ScoutDoc and ScoutDoc GPS eliminate the chore of recording field data on paper and transferring it to record keeping software.

New ScoutDoc GPS app allows direct input of information or mapping with an iPad. The GPS function is new this year to upgrade Agnition's ScoutDoc program launched in 2012.

"Simplicity is the key. This app will work for any crop or region. You can draw a simple map right on the iPad screen using a stylus, import a field map image, or use Google Maps to generate a live GPS map," he explains. "Each scouting trip can be saved to the device and a PDF formatted report can be emailed right from the field, allowing farmers and crop advisors to monitor agronomic issues and treatments through the course of the growing season."
